Oscar Piastri secured pole position at the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, defeating his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris in a thrilling final run of Q3. Piastri’s excellent second sector was key to his pole-winning lap of 1m11.546s, putting him ahead of Norris. Max Verstappen and George Russell shared the second row, with Verstappen finishing ahead. Lewis Hamilton outperformed his replacement, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, to secure fifth place. Pierre Gasly and Isack Hadjar also had strong performances, finishing in the top 10. However, the biggest surprise came from Yuki Tsunoda, who struggled in Q1 and ended up starting from the back of the grid.
